SAP S/4HANA Migration & Implementation

SAP ECC 6 ends support in 2027. Your migration window is now.

SAP ends mainstream maintenance for ECC 6 in October 2027. Organizations that wait will face spiraling support costs, an increasingly narrow pool of ECC-skilled consultants, and a forced migration under deadline pressure. Cold Sun Capital delivers phased S/4HANA migrations in 12–16 week delivery blocks — structured to move you to S/4HANA without the 18-month mega-project timelines and cost overruns that define Tier 1 SAP engagements. We also integrate SAP S/4HANA with Salesforce and your broader platform stack, so the migration creates a connected enterprise — not just a like-for-like system replacement.

SAP S/4HANA Migration & Implementation

S/4HANA is not a lift-and-shift — it is your chance to fix what ECC got wrong

SAP S/4HANA migration is commonly treated as a pure technical exercise. The companies that extract the most value from it treat it as an architecture opportunity: consolidating financial processes, eliminating workarounds, and connecting SAP to Salesforce CRM for a unified quote-to-cash flow. Cold Sun Capital brings both the SAP migration methodology and the Salesforce integration expertise to make that possible — in a single engagement, with one accountable delivery team.

ECC 6 Assessment & Migration Roadmap

A structured assessment of your ECC 6 landscape: custom code volume, integration dependencies, data quality, and the critical path to S/4HANA. You receive a phased migration roadmap before a single line of code moves.

S/4HANA Configuration & Data Migration

Finance, procurement, supply chain, and operational modules configured to your business processes — not SAP defaults. Data migration with validated mappings, reconciliation reports, and parallel-run periods before cutover.

SAP + Salesforce Integration

Connect S/4HANA to Salesforce CRM for unified quote-to-cash, order management, and customer service. Sales teams work in Salesforce. Finance reconciles in SAP. The data moves automatically between them.

RISE with SAP & Cloud Migration

For organizations moving to S/4HANA Cloud via the RISE with SAP subscription model, we manage the commercial, technical, and change management dimensions — so your team focuses on the business transformation, not the cloud mechanics.

Phased delivery — 12–16 weeks per wave, not 18 months of risk

Cold Sun Capital structures SAP S/4HANA migrations as sequential delivery waves rather than single monolithic projects. Wave 1 typically covers Finance and Core Procurement — the highest-risk, highest-value scope — and delivers a live S/4HANA environment within 12–16 weeks. Subsequent waves handle Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or additional business units at the same cadence. This approach eliminates the compounding risk of long-running SAP programs, maintains organizational energy, and gives leadership concrete proof of progress at every stage.

SAP S/4HANA Migration & Implementation strategy

Why organizations choose our approach

Accenture, Deloitte, and IBM dominate the SAP market with programs designed for Fortune 500 budgets and 24-month timelines. Mid-market companies — with $50M–$500M in revenue and a real 2027 deadline — cannot afford that approach and should not have to endure it. Cold Sun Capital brings SAP migration expertise with the mid-market delivery model: phased waves, fixed-scope delivery blocks, and a Salesforce integration capability that the pure-play SAP consultancies cannot offer. We also bring SOC 2 certified methodology, which means your S/4HANA migration does not create new compliance risk while it closes old ones.

Frequently asked questions about SAP S/4HANA Migration & Implementation

When does SAP ECC 6 go end-of-support?

SAP ends mainstream maintenance for SAP ECC 6 (also called SAP ERP 6.0) in October 2027. After that date, SAP will no longer provide standard security patches, legal change updates, or quality packs. Extended maintenance is available at significantly higher cost, but it does not solve the underlying risk of running an unsupported platform. The optimal migration window — with sufficient preparation time and no deadline pressure — is 2024–2026.

What is the difference between a greenfield and brownfield S/4HANA migration?

A greenfield migration builds a new S/4HANA system from scratch, adopting SAP best practices and leaving legacy customizations behind. A brownfield migration converts your existing ECC 6 system in place, preserving custom code and historical data. Cold Sun Capital recommends a selective data migration (also called a shell conversion or mix-and-match approach) for most mid-market clients — it combines the clean architecture of greenfield with the historical data preservation of brownfield, delivered in shorter phases.

Can you integrate SAP S/4HANA with Salesforce during the migration?

Yes — and we recommend doing it as part of the migration, not after. Retrofitting Salesforce integration into a live S/4HANA environment is significantly more complex than building it during the initial deployment. Cold Sun Capital has pre-built integration patterns for SAP + Salesforce covering order management, quote-to-cash, customer master data synchronization, and service order flows. These patterns compress integration delivery from months to weeks.

What is RISE with SAP and should we use it?

RISE with SAP is an SAP-managed subscription offering that packages S/4HANA Cloud, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and infrastructure into a single contract. It simplifies commercial negotiations but introduces dependency on SAP's cloud infrastructure and upgrade cadence. Cold Sun Capital evaluates RISE with SAP against on-premise and hyperscaler (Azure, AWS) deployment options for each client based on data residency requirements, total cost of ownership, and integration complexity. We are deployment-model neutral.

How do you handle custom ABAP code during migration?

SAP S/4HANA eliminates or changes the behavior of many legacy ABAP objects. Cold Sun Capital runs a custom code impact analysis as the first deliverable of every migration engagement — categorizing each custom object as retire, remediate, or replace. Objects that need remediation are assessed for business criticality before migration scope is finalized. Our goal is to reduce custom code volume during the migration, not carry legacy complexity forward into S/4HANA.
